[attachmentid=34109]Hi guys

would just like to mention what a great weekend myself and some mates had up at Jervis over the long weekend.

Although the weather was lousy, the ocean was good, water temp better and plenty of fish.

the early start on Sat morning produced plenty of albys on the trol all between 5 and 10kg, good fun on light gearin the late arvo on finding a patch of 18degC we picked up 1 small YFT at 10kg final count at teh end of the day 17 albys and 1 TFT.

Sunday with the rain gone and the sea flattening off the morning troll seamed a little slower with only 3 albys by 10am. so we decided to set up and cube just north of the bay where we found 18deg the day before. with a solid berly trail out the back and a nice slow drift we managed several more albys and a 25kg alby on 8kg gear. soon after we encounted 3 makos at the back of the boat estimated to be about 100kgs, with a bait rigged and put out the back we were on (gotta love the clasic backflipping Makos) we lost that shark at the boat after about 45mins fighting.

Not long after another mako was at the boat, everyone would agree an awsome sight to see. Another bait rigged and put out saw us hooked up again not long after. 2 hrs 15minutes later and 15mile off course saw us with teh Mako at the boat estenmated at 150kg we kept it. Biggest prob was it wouldnt fit in the boat..... at the end of the day 10 albys and 1 BIG mako....

By teh time we reacked the boat ramp it was 845pm.. a shot tussel at the ramp had ithe Mako in the Boat..

Much thanks to Simmo and Terry at the Jervis Bay Gamefishing club for assisting us in weighing it on Monday, with out you we were dreading dragging it out of the boat.

Final weigh in was 195kg 18hrs after capture.

Well done to our crew on FRIGATE too.. Not a bad effort in a 6 meter trailer boat.

Again thanks to Jervis Bay GFC we look forward to your torny in a few weeks, Great spot

I have always been curious, do Mako's make for good eating? Actually do sharks in general make for good eating?

Yeah Makos aro as good as Shark gets, frezzes well, im not a big fish eater so i gave most of it away and kept some for berly next time im out ...
